Zoo + Beer = Better Zoo!

Here at Brom.ly we are always astounded at how many different types of awesome events happen that we would have never known about (did you know that in LA alone this week there are over 20K UNIQUE events)???

Our favorite event today is “Brew at the Zoo”, happening on Friday night at the LA Zoo.  http://brom.ly/launch?id=429789

Bromly is already a pretty big fan of crazy animal watching.  And of course Bromly likes himself a good pint of micro brew.  Put crazy animals and beer together in one awesome night and Bromly is TOTALLY THERE!  Gorillas get a lot more exciting after 4 microbrews.  If Bromly ran a zoo…. every night would be Brew at the Zoo.

Good stuff LA Zoo.

And don’t forget to check out Bromly for more awesome events that you never knew existed.

Cheers,

Bromly

Press Release: iPhone and Android Apps Launch

Tired of searching multiple sources for events that interest you? Bromly is at your service. Bromly (www.brom.ly), a personalized event recommendation engine, launches two (2) new mobile apps to give users a better way to discover personally relevant events. Bromly categorizes every event in an area, from the largest concerts to the smallest tech meet-ups to local real-time deals, delivering personalized event recommendations directly to its user’s mobile phones, desktop, and/or email addresses.

Bromly boasts a comprehensive set of categorized events, maintaining an active listing of 20,000 or more weekly events in cities such as New York, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Baltimore. Sources include a wide range of national sources such as SeatGeek, Thrillist and Meetup as well as local data sources such as local radio stations.

Bromly uses a wide range of data points including Facebook likes or interests, venue check-ins, specific user supplied interests, user event ratings, event trends and more to drive personal recommendations. These inputs allow users to discover events of interest happening around them, without leveraging multiple sources or search engines to do so. Users can currently access Bromly through both its website www.brom.ly and its iPhone and Android mobile apps.

As mobile phone web applications continues to accelerate in growth, Bromly’s technology is well positioned to help users figure out what to do at any given time and location.

Food Trucks….. a true passion

We decided to dig into some data to see what events were getting the most love on Brom.ly thus far.  We were expecting to see one of the massive events such as a major concert or sporting event at the top of the heap.  I even wouldn’t have been surprised if the New York Tech Meetup where Bromly was presented was at the top (there was almost 1000 NYC tech fan in attendance).

Yet we were shocked to see the winner was…. the Macy’s Food Truck touring in Harlem.  You can check it out here:  http://brom.ly/events/423845

As we looked around the social web, we realized this really shouldn’t be too shocking as there is an amazing cult following for Food Trucks.  The LA based twitter handle @FoodTruckLA tweets about ONLY food trucks in LA and has over 10,000 followers.  Not to be outdone, Chicago even has it’s own @chicagofoodtrux which is “a forum to gain movement to update the lack of mobile food trucks in Chicago…”

And the Food Truck crave has even got the attention of some of the more old fashioned company’s.  Zagat now has a site/twitter for only food truck spotting @ZagatTrucks and Applebees just announced that they are putting their own foot into the Food Truck arena http://huff.to/nmyyAA.

Wow.  People sure do love their Food Trucks.  When we set out to personalize every single event, Food Trucks wasn’t first on our list of coveted events… but it looks like it’s a trend that is here to stay.  Glad Bromly could help!

Cheers!
